Surfing

Surfing Northern Nicaragua – Off shore winds blow nearly every morning on the variety of nearby points and beach breaks. One such uncrowded beach break is located directly in front of the Surf House at Jiquilillo Beach. The Surf House is located near surf spots that include Aserradores Beachbreak (a.k.a. The Boom), and Aserradores Point (a.k.a. Las Isla/ The Island). The beach breaks a have heavy hollow barrels and hold up to head hand a half surf.  The point is a fifty to hundred yard long riding rock left.  It starts breaking at overhead and gets bigger than triple over head.

The Surf Tours we provide in the North of Nicaragua include surf the best breaks in this remote region of Nicaragua.  Our mission is to guarantee we are always at the right spot, even if we have to go by boat or 4x4 to find the next secret break that’s around the corner. We will surf pristine waves most of them with no crowds and some with few crowds, and keep on the go to surf the next epic spot with the changing tides. This is the proper way to experience the variety of excellent surf in the Northern region of Nicaragua. It is a unique wave hunting experience.

The Surf Tours include boat rides to many uncrowded beach breaks and a couple of rarely surfed pointbreaks.

The Surf

Jiquilillo Beachbreak

Punchy barreling surf very similar to Asseradores beach break.  The surf in Jiquilillo is good on all tides, this is a good spot for surfers of all levels.

Aserradores Point Break/ La Isla

The point likes a bigger swell.  The biggest day we surfed was easily triple overhead and people felt under very under gunned on 6'10" boards.

There is also the rarely surfed Wildman’s Peak on the outside that is begging for some brave kite surfers or tow in surfers. Paddle surfing this peak is sometimes included in our surf tours.

This wave is accessible by boat only.

Aserradores Beach Break

Similar to Pasqualles or Puerto Escondido in Mexico, Aserradores Beach Break is a great place to try out your 6'1" barrel hunter.

The main peak in this spot is very competitive, but there are other good peaks not as heavy as the main peak but still offering some rush.

More breaks in the area

There are many other surf spots with good quality waves we can mention, Nahualapa Bay, Manzana and Aposentillo as some of our favorites.

Besides the waves mentioned before there are some tidal waves in the Padre Ramos estuary, these waves break only on special conditions and is accessible by boat only.

Surfing Season:

  • March – September : The most consistent swells 4-6 ft with bigger 8-12 ft swells possible.
  • Oct – Jannuary: waist to chest high offshore perfection.
  • February – March: mid-size swells, always offshore.
