Surfing in COSTA RICA

The Castillo De Pavones Hotel has the ultimate in Costa Rica surf trips. Our waves break year round, but April - September is when Pavones fires the longest left hand point break wave you have ever seen, guaranteed!

The famous "Pavones point" is our local break, right in front of the Castillo De Pavones Hotel. This wave provides solid surf for beginners at the end of the point in the bay and of coures perfect, fast, 300 yard plus rides to avid surfers. At the end of the wave in the bay, beginners can learn and play in the left over waves, where the avid surfers do not go, it is a perfect natural set up for everyone. Surfers that want more speed, legth of ride and size can find everything they want at the start of the point, which is 300 yards from the Castillo's suite doors. We provide advanced surfers with daytrips for hollow tubes, bigger out side reefs that break right and left if desired. Most people do not want to move when they discover our local break of Pavones is the best wave they have ever surfed! Please view pictures to see further.

On and offshore winds are mellow from 5:00am - 11:00am
A mix of offshore winds: 11:00-3:30 PM
Surf Size: 1 foot over head high (average) up to 12’-15’
Rides up to 400 yards plus left breaking, however there are plenty of right breaks all with in 2 - 4 miles of Pavones.
