Surfing
Surfing Nicaragua – Surfing Puerto Sandino/ Central Region of Nicaragua encompases, this region is one of the "last surf frontiers in Central America." Here you will find great surf breaks ranging from fun, classic point breaks to hollow, A-frame beach breaks or ruler-edged, tubing, inner rock reefs. There are surf breaks which work on all tides, high, mid and low. No crowds, just you and your friends surfing empty warm water perfection all day! There are more than twelve breaks in the area and most of them are very remote and unknown.
It takes local knowledge of the area to score the best conditions. Accessing these surf spots can be tricky depending on the wind and swell direction, working with the current tide conditions. The surf in this region ranges from beginner to expert ability level.

Surfing Seasons:
The breaks are exposed to both SW and NW swells, making the surf very consistent all year.
- Apr-Nov: The most consistent swells 4-6 ft with bigger 8-12 ft swells possible.
- Nov-Jan: waist to chest high offshore perfection.

Feb-Mar: mid-size swells, always offshore.
The Surf:
The Surf Spots in the Central Region are:
Spot Nº 2 – A short, very hollow left breaking over shallow reef. Excellent shape. works best between 3 to 6 feet and breaks only at and around high tide. In front of our surf camp!
Spot No. 6 – Fast and hollow. This wave breaks over a flat rock shelf with a very critical take off, and a very hollow and fast section. Experts only! This is one of the best waves in Central America it can be ridden for up to 250 yards, the only you need to catch waves in this spot is our local knowledge and guts!! Reef shoes are recommended.
