The Surf
The surf spots in the Southern Region are:
Spot No.1: Excellent beach break with prevailing off shores all year round. Best on low tide and on small-medium size and SW swells. Breaks to the right and left.
Spot No.2: A beautiful right-hand point break with rides up to 300 meters. A super fun wave for classic long boarding and progressive short boarding
Spot No.3: The most hollow and powerful jetty wave in the zone, with a dry takeoff, and super long tube section. No rooms for mistakes or you’re going to finish on the rocks. Sometimes, especially on weekends you’ll find 3-5 local surfers or body-boarders with friendly attitudes. Respect, cool vibe and traditional lineup system with surfers alternating turns is needed to surf here. Only experienced surfers.
Spot No.4: One of the best waves in the zone, a super long wave with 2 take off areas, a hollow section at the first part of the wave and a bowlier take off down the line. Best on low tide and on 4-6 foot South swell.
Spot No.5: Right-hand wave, fun for beginners and Long-boarding.
Spot No.6: Another aggressive right-hand point break, starts to work at 5’+ and larger swells. Best on low tide and SW swells.
Spot No.7: Super fast and tricky point break wave. Ideal for short-boarding or body boarding, dream tubes on excellent conditions. Starts to work only at 6 ft.
Spot No.8: Hollow right-hander off the jetty. Very powerful wave. Best on Low tide. Better wind protection than some of the other points, and more consistent.
Spot No.9: Is located at 200m from the No. 8 but is longer and trickier wave that works with the same conditions.
Spot No.10: A hollow right-hand point-break accessible only by boat.
The surf spots in the Northern Region are:
La Jolla : A right-hand sand point break, the most famous wave in the area. This wave can barrel all the way down presenting one of the longest rides in Mexico. The crowd factor is 10-15 surfers on a crowded day. If the surf is from 6-8 ft the crowd becomes less of a problem due to the amount of waves. (There are some strong currents on big swells)
Spot No. 1: Beach break with a good wind protection.
Spot No. 2: Fun left wave.
Spot No. 3: Right point-break wave, Starts working only in special conditions, but when it does, it turns in to a perfect and powerful long wave.
La bocana: Funny beach break. Only breaks with special conditions.
